CARTHAGE- James L. Stenoski, 77, of Boyd Road, died peacefully on May 13, 2024, at his daughter’s home in Evans Mills, NY. He was born on April 25, 1947, in Carthage, NY to the late William S. & Mae E. (Champion) Stenoski. He attended school in Carthage.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 17th, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held privately in the St. James Catholic Cemetery in Carthage, with Rev. Todd E. Thibault officiating.
James worked for the St. James Cemetery, Ramon’s (Sawmill), and the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center, he retired from Fort Drum, as a garden and groundskeeper. He married Terry (Potter), and the couple separated. James spent 32 years with his lifelong companion, Robin Harris, sadly she passed before him.
He is survived by his children, Kim A. (Paul) Shepherd; Larry J. Stenoski, Carthage; and Summer L. (Bruce) VanLuven, of Adams; and one sister: Elizabeth (Thomas) Jackson of Carthage and two brothers: Steven (Cora) of Carthage, Matthew (Jane) Stenoski of New Bremen and several nieces and nephews. His stepchildren, Richard Harris, and Aaron (Jessica) Harris; his grandchildren, Linda Grace (Josh) Jordan, Lorne (Christina) Shepherd, Brent VanLuven, Shane (Caitlyn) VanLuven, Eric VanLuven, and Nicholas VanLuven; along with 5-great grandsons and 2-great granddaughters and 5-great grandchildren.
James enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, watching wrestling, and spending time with his family. He loved to dance and listen to music when he was younger.
He is predeceased by his parents, his companion, Robin Harris, his two sisters, Jeannette Barnes, and Wanda Ordway, and three brothers, Louis Stenoski, Johnny Stenoski, and Lawrence S. Stenoski and by a great-grandson, Holden VanLuven.
