Rodman- Robert Olin Wetherwax, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Samaritan Medical Center with his family at his side.

A Graveside Service will be held in the Spring at the Hillside Cemetery in Champion, NY.

Robert was born on March 11th, 1938, in West Carthage to the late Helen Susan (Gowing) and Earl Kilmer Wetherwax. He graduated from Philadelphia High School.

He married Merle McIntosh Crandall on December 8th, 1962, in Calcium, and they spent their 61st anniversary at the hospital together.

He retired from Farley Roofing in Gouverneur in 1998. He belonged to Local #195 Roofers Union based in Syracuse. He was also a member of the Rodman Hunting Club. Originally from Antwerp and moved to Rodman in 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Merle Wetherwax, Rodman; a son, Robert Olin Wetherwax, from his first marriage which ended in divorce; a stepdaughter, Gwendolyn Crandall; a stepson, Herbert Crandall Jr., and his wife Carrie; a sister-in-law, Carol; four grandchildren, Aaron, Rachel, Haley, and Michel in Texas; four step-grandchildren, Herb (Maria) Bridgette (Travis) Dodge, Tebra (Russell) Brownell and Christopher (Vanesa)Boyd and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, William, Richard, and Donald (Linda) Wetherwax.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. located at 500 State Street Carthage, NY 13619.
