Noreen E. Seaman

Carthage- Noreen E. Seaman 97, formerly of N. Broad Street died peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Carthage Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born on July 14, 1926, at the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg, NY to the late Dewitt & Christine (Morris) Rutherford.

Noreen worked as a waitress and bartender at several locations in Gouverneur, Carthage, and Fort Drum.  She loved her pets, especially her cats. She was always one to give a helping hand to anyone in need.

She married Robert Seaman, and Mr. Seaman died in 2005.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Thomas) Trathen, West Carthage; granddaughters, Robert (Tonia) Walterick, Carthage; Harley (Veronic) Richardson, Carthage; great-grandson, Robert B. Walterick, Carthage; great-granddaughters, Andrew (Nataley) McFarland, Black River; Scott (Natasha) Murrell, Castorland; along with great- great-grandsons, Sullivan & Benjamin McFarland, Black River. Her two brothers, Bruce Rutherford, and Howard Rutherford, are both from Madrid.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert Seaman, and her sisters, Doris Williamson and Beverly Irving.

Noreen was very active in the community, always enjoyed helping others out at benefits, and gathered many donations.  A lifetime member of the Bassett-Baxter American Legion Post #789 and Veterans of Foreign Wars both in Carthage.

She loved all of her family so much and they loved her too, “My mom was my rock, my best friend, she will be forever in my heart always on my  mind!”
