Mary Bond Obituary

HARRISVILLE- Mary V. (LaDuc) Bond, 94, of Church Street passed away peacefully on Monday Evening, December 11, 2023, with her loving family at her side.

The services for Mrs. Mary V. Bond will be held at a later date in the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Cemetery in Harrisville, New York where she will be laid to rest alongside her family and beloved husband.

Mary was born on March 22, 1929, in Harrisville, NY, to the late Philias J. LaDuc and Charlotte Gazin. Mary graduated from Harrisville High School, she was very dedicated to her family and was primarily a homemaker.

Mary married C. Bernard Bond on May 10, 1947, in Harrisville, NY; he was a World War II. Combat Veteran and Bronze Star recipient, who after his capture at the Kasserine Pass, Tunisia, North Africa, suffered for 2 years and 3 months in numerous German Prisoner of War camps before his Liberation. She lived a long and active life dedicated to the care of her husband and children. The couple had 2 children, Thomas B. Bond, of Harrisville, and James P. Bond, of Copenhagen.

She was best known for her amazing cooking; she was extremely independent right up until her death.  She loved gardening and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong communicant of the St. Francis Solanus Church.

Mary is survived by her two children, Thomas B. (Mary) Bond, of Harrisville; James P. Bond, Copenhagen;   along with her siblings, Stephen LaDuc, Harrisville; and Anne Safe, Angola; and her two grandchildren, Kristi and Anthony along with her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Lauren Ciara, and Evelina as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and her best friend, Portlyn Macagg, Harrisville.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Philias & Charlotte LaDuc, her husband C. Bernard Bond in 1988, and her six siblings, Francis, Carroll, Frederick, Dennis, Clyde, and Phyllis Carroll.

Special acknowledgment to Dr. Mirza Ashraf and Cathy Rivers, who took such wonderful care of our mother over the decades, and a special Thank You to the remarkable medical staff at the Carthage Area Hospital who cared for her so compassionately at the end of her life.
