CARTHAGE — Vickie Lyn Goldthrite, 60, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY.

Born in Carthage on June 21, 1965, she was the daughter of Claude “Peanut” and Eunice May Sanders Goldthrite. Vickie graduated from Carthage Central High School. A marriage to Dale Burr ended in divorce. She previously worked in construction, assisting in the building of the 801 military apartments for Fort Drum, and also worked for the former New Art Dry Cleaners. Most recently, she was a dedicated homemaker caring for her grandchildren.

Vickie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was very active in her church. She was a true social butterfly who never met a stranger, only friends she hadn’t made yet. With her bright spirit and infectious sense of humor, she drew people in effortlessly and filled every room with laughter. She cared deeply for everyone and loved with her whole heart, always more concerned about how others were doing than herself. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine compassion left a lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristie (Anthony) Cardona; her siblings, George (Debbie) Scholl, Jr. of Carthage, Stacey (Kevin) Spinner of Adams Center, and Joie (Chelsea) Scholl of Dexter; her stepfather, George Scholl; and her stepmother, Cindy Scholl of Port Byron. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Oceahna Orton, Jayden Clement, Owen Michael Prout, and Ryan Cardona.

She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Lyn Marie Rhone.
