Vernon H. Peck

November 25, 1923 — January 26, 2016

CHAMPION - Vernon H. Peck, 92, formerly of 31920 NYS Route 126, died Tuesday morning, January 26, 2016 at the Lewis County Residential Care Facility, where he had been a resident for a short time.
Born at Lake Bonaparte on November 25, 1923, the son of Vernon Peck, Sr. & Bessie Sampson Peck, he attended the former West Carthage High School. He married Harriet Healy on August 23, 1948 at the St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. Mrs. Peck died on December 24, 2015; he didn't want to be away from his wife of 68 years and now joins her in heaven. Verne served overseas in the United States Army during World War II. He was with the 15th Infantry Division, 3rd Recon and later with BTRY A 216th, an anti-aircraft battalion. Mr. Peck worked as a truck driver, who was employed by Northern Haulers and various local companies.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union, the Copenhagen Fire Department and Drill Team, the Black River American Legion, the Disabled Veterans Organization, the VFW in Lowville and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his children; Mike Peck, Carthage, Linda LaClair, Carthage, Sally Green, Black River, Tom Peck, Copenhagen, Randy Peck and his wife, Sandy, Copenhagen and Ron Peck and his wife, Jo Ann, Champion.
Also surviving are his brother and his wife, Dave and Joy Peck, his nephews; Sherrie, Gary and Ronnie Perkins, his grandchildren; Eric, Christy, Dean, Charrie, Lynsey, Tyler, Phillip, Dana, Cade, Andy, Amanda, Andrea, Maria, RJ, along with her great-grandchildren Herbie, Devlyn, and Caleb and her great-great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his wife, Harriet, a son, Tim Peck and his siblings; Jane Richardson, Paul Peck, Evelyn Perkins and Dorothy Huntley.
There will be no public funeral service or visitation. Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown.
