Velma L. Lunderman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Velma L. Lunderman on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Carthage Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Bassett-Baxter American Legion Post #789 at 5:00 pm. 

Born on August 17, 1942, in San Bernardino County, California, to the late Warren and Velma (Woolf) Norris, Velma attended college for two years after high school. She married James A. Lunderman on June 15, 1961, and dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. She was also a proud, lifetime member of the Bassett-Baxter American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary for 40 years. 

Velma is survived by her children, Robbie (Douglas) Murphy of Natural Bridge; her grandchildren, Anthony (Kelsea) Hanson of Natural Bridge, Jonathan (Emily) Murphy of Natural Bridge, Jamie (Joe) Martin of Texas, Brandee Lunderman of Texas, and Charles Lunderman of Alaska; as well as her great-grandchildren, her brother, Tommy Joe (Tami) Norris, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, James A. Lunderman (June 12, 2024); her son, James Lunderman Jr. (September 29, 1989); and her brother, Warren Norris II.
