CARTHAGE – Theresa E. Rocker, 74, formerly of Avery Road
Services will be held at the Natural Bridge Community Center, on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 from 11 am to 2 pm.
She was born on May 22nd, 1949, in Carthage, New York, the daughter of the late Edgar F. & Margaret E. (Abrams) Countryman. She graduated from Carthage Central School District in 1967.
On July 15, 1967, she married the love of her life, Jimmy A. Rocker at the Church of the Nazarene in Carthage, NY. They happily pushed each other’s buttons for the next 54 years and they were the best of friends until Jimmy’s passing in 2021. She was employed at a variety of places, Lollies Manufacturing in Herrings, NY as a sewing machine operator; Braman’s sawmill, and lastly Crown Zellerbach in Carthage until she retired due to an injury.
Theresa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved being a mother and nana to not only her biological children but whoever needed one. Family and friends were important to her, and she was always ready to share a cup of coffee with anyone who came to visit. She enjoyed listening to music and was a long-time member of the Black River Valley Fiddlers.
Survivors include her children, Renee King of Carthage; Darlene Rocker Shultz of South Carolina; Jimmy Rocker Jr. of Watertown; and Carla (Brian McGowan) of Moses Lake, WA; her grandchildren, Cheyenne, Destiny, Zyna, Dakota, Hailey and Kylee; her great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Walter, Aeila, Paisley, Leonidas and Kalista and Emberlynn. She is also survived by her siblings, Shirley (Tom) Broyles, Carthage; Edgar (Gail) Countryman, Carthage; Rose Countryman, of Palm Coast, Florida, Billy (Christine) Countryman of West Carthage; and Elly Countryman of Pitcairn, NY.
