WATERTOWN - Russell E. Kellogg, 86, of Weaver Road, passed away in the early hours of Friday, January 03, 2020 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Russell was born on July 16, 1933 in Boonville, NY, a son to the late James F. and Viola (Rudd) Kellogg. He attended school in Glenfield, NY and went on to work as a maintenance man for General Telephone in Boonville, NY. Russell was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.
On November 15, 1958, Russell married Dorothy Rebb. Dorothy passed December 17, 1997. Russell was a member of the Lowville American Legion Post #162, he was a member of The Rock Church in Watertown, NY. He was also a minister of the Gospel through The Rock Church. Russell loved to garden, be outdoors and go for walks. He loved to go to rummage sales and thrift stores. He loved to have parties, go to social events and to travel. He loved baking and cooking for his family, as well. Russell was very artistic and creative; he was considered quite the handyman. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Leslie (Garvis) Hulbert, Maiden, NC; James R. (Paul) Kellogg, Gastonia, NC; Robin (Dennis) Hulbert, Watertown, NY; Robert Kellogg, Gastonia, NC; two brothers, Carl Kellogg and Ervin Kellogg; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Russell is predeceased by 10 siblings, Richard Kellogg; Lloyd Kellogg; Harold Kellogg; Charles Kellogg; Loretta Hill; Shirley Joslin; Beverly Kinel; and 3 siblings that passed away at birth. A memorial service will be held with military honors rendered at 2 PM on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at The Rock Church, 22201 US-11, Watertown, NY 13601, with Pastor Myron Jamerson and Rev. Dominic Kriegbaum officiating.
