Lowville - Ross M. Wicks, 91, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, while at Carthage Area Hospital with his family.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Lundy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Arnold officiating. A graveside service will be held following the funeral at Harrisville Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents.
Ross was born on May 1, 1935, in West Carthage to the late Maurice and Vera (Weeks) Wicks. After attending Harrisville Central School, he went on to enlist in the United States Army, where he served on active duty from 1957 to 1959. Following his service, where he was stationed in Germany, Ross came back to the North Country and settled down in Harrisville. He began working as a Trimmer Operator for Climax Manufacturing shortly after his return and retired after over 30 years of dedicated service at the age of 62.
Ross is survived by his children, Guy (Karen) Wicks of Ohio, Leon (Vickie) Wicks of Lowville, Ross Wicks Jr. of Lowville, Lena (James) Denicola of Dallas, North Carolina, and Richard Wicks of North Carolina; a step-son, William “Butch” Pellam of Lowville; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Vera; his ex-wife, Marion Sullivan; a daughter-in-law, Mary Pellam; and a sister, Molly Harvey.
