Rosa Valdez

CARTHAGE - Rosa Valdez, age 92, died peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility with her daughter by her side. 

Rosa was a proud Texan born on December 18, 1933, in Crystal City, to the late Juan and Anita (Avila) Hernandez. She was married for more then 50 years to the late Crescencio Valdez. Rosa's greatest joy was being a mom and creating a loving home for her 4 children and later for her grandchildren. In her later years, she loved going on adventures, relaxing in the sun, and trying new things. She had a love of life only rivaled by her love of her family and community.

She is survived by her daughter, Corrina (Keith) Bush of Carthage; her son, Edward Valdez of Michigan; her grandchildren Kelli (Michael) Sabowski, Greg (Avery) Harrington, Brandi (Wayne) Hill, Stephanie Valdez and her best friend and partner in crime Elijah Bush; several great-grandchildren including Arianna Valdez and Rosie Harrington. Rosa was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her siblings, and her beloved daughters Christi Harrington and Gloria Valdez-McKinley. 

Her services will be held at a later date in Michigan.
