COPENHAGEN - Robert G. Nevills, 70, 3209 Fuller Rd., died early Wednesday morning, August 17, 2016 at his home, while under the care of his family and Hospice of Lewis County.
Born in West Carthage on April 21, 1946, the son of Harold R. & Laura Olley Nevills, he graduated from Copenhagen High School, where he excelled in basketball. He then furthered his education at Canton ATC and the University of Georgia. He married Wendy Miller on February 17, 1973 in Lowville. He was employed by various companies throughout his life, including; Harold R. Nevills Milk Hauling, Copenhagen, as an Alberta Provincial Dairy Inspector, Alberta, Canada, retired from Kraft Foods in Lowville and he was also a self- employed farmer.
He was a member of the Lowville Elks Lodge BPOE #1605, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and producing maple syrup. He also enjoyed playing cards, a good laugh and a cold beer.
Robert is survived by his wife, Wendy, his sons and their wives; Colby & Stephanie Dececchis Nevills and Kyle & Sarah Spencer Nevills, along with his grandchildren; Jordyn, Chase, Cort and Kyrah Nevills. He is also survived by his two special nephews, whom he treated like his own sons; Rob Nevills and Tobi Montgomery, as well as his siblings and their respective spouses; Bonnie Lin Montgomery, Adams, Brenda & David Harper, Carthage, Pamela & David Aubin, Watertown, Joel Nevills & companion Ann O'Hara, Williamstown, Jacqueline & Larry Gorczyca, Glenfield and his sister in law, Margaret "Peggy" Nevills, Copenhagen and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Laura Nevills, and brothers; Dale B. and Terry W. Nevills.
Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., with calling hours to be held on Saturday, August 20th from 12:00 - 4:00 PM at the Copenhagen Chapel, 10229 Washington St., Copenhagen, NY.
