Peggy L. Hosmer

Peggy L. Hosmer, 64, of Beaver Falls, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2025, at the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County, surrounded by her loving family.

In keeping with her wishes, Peggy will be cremated. A small ceremony will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery in Croghan, New York, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Peggy was born on January 1, 1962, in Carthage, New York, a daughter of the late Wheeler and Minnie (Donahue) Hosmer. She graduated from Carthage Central School in 1980. Peggy worked over the years as a childcare provider and factory worker; however, nothing brought her more joy than being a grandmother.

She is survived by her lifelong partner, Lester Schermerhorn Sr.; her children, Lester (Victoria) Schermerhorn Jr. of Belgium and Travis Schermerhorn of Fulton; and her cherished granddaughter, Sophie Schermerhorn of Belgium. She is also survived by five brothers, Lloyd, Marty, Leo, Keith, and Jerry Hosmer; four sisters, Carolyn Johnson, Susan VanAernam, Patricia Peets, and Clara Hosmer; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Norman, Marshall, Bruce, and Terry Hosmer; two sisters, Nancy and Tina Hosmer; and her closest niece, Tracy Hosmer.

Donations in Peggy’s memory may be made to the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
