Carthage - Patricia Hoppel, 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Carthage Area Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family after a short battle with cancer.

Born on August 27, 1959, in Alexandria Bay, Patricia was the daughter of the late Charles Gillette and Shelva (Yerdon). She attended LaFargeville Central School and went on to dedicate much of her life to her family. Patricia found her greatest purpose in raising her three children and helping care for the family farm, where she instilled in her family the values of hard work, resilience, and love. Her marriage to Michael Hoppel later ended in divorce.

She is lovingly remembered by her children; Tisha (Clarence) Dugger; Michael (Jessica) Hoppel; and Mathew (Courtney) Hoppel. She was a proud grandmother to Bronson, Lincoln, Gwendolyn, Olivia, Maci, Justin, Jordyn, Jarett, Jaxton, Jace, and Jhett. She was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Ryker, and eagerly awaited the arrival of another, Everleigh. Patricia is further survived by her stepmother, Cindy Gillette; and her siblings, Debra, Shirley, Nancy, Amy, Joseph, Shawn, and Charles Jr.

She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Shelva.

Patricia found joy in life's simple and meaningful moments. She loved caring for her horses, tending to her garden, and listening to music. She had a special fondness for singing and baking, especially the delicious Christmas sugar cookies she was known for. Above all else, Patricia treasured time spent with her family. Her sense of humor, warm heart, and unconditional love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Lundy Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. Online condolences in her memory may be made at www.lundyfuneralhome.com
