Patricia E. Delaney

EVANS MILLS - Patricia E. Delaney, 73, of Evans Mills, NY, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, at Samaritan Medical Center, surrounded by love. She would have celebrated her 74th birthday on September 15.

Patty was born in Watertown, NY, on September 15, 1952, to Jack and Ellen (Patchen) Farrell and was one of nine children. She grew up in and around Calcium and Evans Mills, surrounded by the large family that would remain such an important part of her life. On November 9, 1968, Patty married Blaine Delaney, the love of her life, at St. Mary’s Church in Evans Mills. Together, they built a life centered around family and raised their three children, Randy, Shelly, and Mike, in Evans Mills, close to the people they loved.

Patty was a devoted homemaker while her children were young. In 1986, she began working in the library at the Watertown Daily Times, where she remained until 2003. She took great pride in her family and found joy in the simple things that made a house a home. Patty loved to garden and sew and had a special appreciation for country décor and Boyd’s Bears. She cherished time spent with friends and, most of all, with her very large and loving family. Her warmth, kindness, and love for those around her will be remembered by all who knew her.

Blaine predeceased Patty in August 2018, after nearly 50 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Jordan; her parents, Jack and Ellen Farrell; her maternal grandparents, Nathan and Eda Patchen; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Edith Farrell; her sisters Judy Johnson and Janet Binzer; and siblings, Gary and Betty Farrell, who passed away in infancy.

Patty is survived by her three children and their spouses, Randy and Courtney Delaney of Philadelphia, NY; Shelly and Edward Aftuck of Bradford, NY; and Michael and Yuko Delaney of Syracuse, NY. She leaves behind five grandchildren and their spouses: Paige and Puzu Garcia, Brynn and Ant Gallardo, Ellie and Ryan Paluch, Makoto Delaney, and Emma Aftuck, as well as four great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, John and Sharon Farrell, Cynthia and Ronald Curtis, Timothy and Patricia Farrell, Jacqueline and David McIlroy, Joyce Pitts, and Nancy and Frederick Hermann, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to East Road Adult Home in Lowville, New York, for the care, kindness, and compassion they provided Patty throughout her final years. The family would also like to thank the staff of Samaritan Medical Center 5 Pratt for helping keep Patty comfortable and surrounded by compassion during her final days.

Patty's family finds comfort knowing that although so much of the woman they knew was taken from her over the years, the love she gave and the love she received never left her.

She was loved. She is missed. And she will remain forever a part of the family she cherished so deeply.
