Lowville - Muriel "Peg" Irene Arndt, 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, while at home surrounded by her family, under the care of Hospice of Lewis County.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Canon Samuel P. Lundy officiating. A burial in the Swinburne Cemetery in Deer River will follow the funeral, where Muriel will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Carl. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, July 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lundy Funeral Home, located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY 13619. A luncheon will be held following the burial, details will be announced at time of services.
Muriel was born on February 1, 1934, in Edwards to the late Roy and Florence (Meeds) Myers. She graduated from West Carthage Central School. She worked as a clerk for F.W. Woolworths for a number of years and later as an assistant manager for W.T. Grant, until their closing.
She married Carl W.C. Arndt on January 10, 1952, in Deer River with Rev. Howard Griswold officiating. They spent 67 years happily married before Carl’s passing in 2019.
Muriel enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her boys and their children, and later her great-grandchildren. She spent many days in her garden tending to her flowers. Traveling with Carl was one of her favorite activities; they spent many years going across the country side by side.
She is survived by her children, Alan (Valda) Arndt of Deer River, Lonnie (Robin) Arndt of Carthage, and Merle (Pattie) Arndt of Beaver Falls; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Carl; her siblings, Curtis Myers, Donald Myers, Merle Myers, and Bethany Howard.
