Carthage – Michael R. Montgomery,38, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Lundy Funeral Home located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 1:00 pm. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held in the Fairview Cemetery in Carthage.
Michael was born on August 30, 1986, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 3, 2006. He served during the Iraq War in the 1-87 Unit and was a highly decorated soldier who was honorably discharged on February 28, 2012. He currently worked as an Automotive Electrician for Henderson Products in Watertown.
He married Ashley Ritz in the Town of Wilna on December 4th, 2009.
Michael is survived by his wife Ashley Montgomery & his children, Adaya Annalee and Axel Ray, all of Carthage; his grandmother, Sharon Tomlinson, his mother, Deborah Montgomery, both of Washington State; His brothers, Connor Beamer, Colorado; and Bryce Beamer, Washington State; and his mother-in-law, Sylvia (Patrick) Ritz, Castorland; a brother-in-law, Joesph Ritz, Castorland; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael is predeceased by his father, David Tomlinson, and his grandparents, Gary Montgomery, Georgalee & Frank Wheeler, and John Fullerton.
He loved the outdoors, which included hunting, fishing, and kayaking; but most of all spending time with his family and friends. Michael also enjoyed drinking his Mountain Dew.
He recently attended the Warriors Heart Retreat in Bandera, TX, and became a K9 certified instructor. He leaves behind his beloved service dog- Frankie.
