OGDENSBURG - Lula A. Patterson, 84, of 720 Proctor Ave, died March 7, 2016 under the care of her family and St. Lawrence Hospice.
She was born on January 12, 1932 to Carleton L. & Margaret P. (Premo) (Jenne) Grenier. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1950. Lula was primarily a homemaker but also served on the Ogdensburg Election Board for over 60 years. Lula enjoyed her volunteer work at the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. She worked in the community at Hackett's Hardware, Grants, and the Jubilee Grocery Store. She also enjoyed working at the gift shop at Claxton Hepburn Hospital.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg, where she held many positions, including Secretary. She was a Girl Scout leader, and member of the Rebuck Lodge. She enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends, gardening and baking.
Lula married Fred Patterson on June 24, 1950. Mr. Patterson died on September 17, 2015. They spent many years together at the camp they built, near the windfall.
She is survived by her two children, Elizabeth E. (Betty) Wright of Grafton, MA and William and his wife Suzanne of Ogdensburg. Her grandchildren: Andrea Stump, Heather Wright-Craft, Kimberly Elder; all of Millbury, Massachusetts. Sean Patterson of Heuvelton and Pamela Smith of Canton along with 11 great- grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, William Jenne of Edgewater, Florida, two nephews. A step sister, Doris (Grenier) Knapp, Ogdensburg and several cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held in Ogdensburg on Saturday, March 12, at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 423 Ford Street with a celebration of her life following the service. She will be buried in the Foxwood Memorial Park Mausoleum in Ogdensburg.
