GREAT BEND - Luella Burke, 86, 24849 Co. Rte. 197, died Monday, December 26, 2016 at the home of her daughter, Cheryl Gilbert in Castorland.
Born in Pottersville, NY on April 12, 1930, the daughter of Earl & Diana Meade Armstrong. She married Clifford "Kippy" Burke on August 25, 1951 at St. James Catholic Church, Carthage. Mr. Burke died on September 23, 2008. She was a primarily a homemaker, and was very talented at baking and decorating cakes for all occasions. She was also a member of the Great Bend Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children; Elaine and her husband Joe Hall, Carthage, Cheryl and her husband Fran Gilbert, Great Bend, Eric Burke, Great Bend, Michael Burke, Felts Mills and David Burke, Champion, along with 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings and their spouses; David & Marilyn Armstrong and Mark & Cathy Armstrong. She is predeceased by her husband, Clifford and her identical twin sister, Leona.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Carthage, with the Rev. Donald Robinson, Pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in Black River Cemetery, Black River, NY. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., Carthage, NY.
