HARRISVILLE- Loren F. Manchester, 88, died Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Lewis County General Hospital Residential Health Care Facility where he's resided since 2014. He was born in his current home on March 9, 1927 in Pitcairn to Elmer & Hazel Worden Manchester. He attended High School in Harrisville. He also served in the United States Army during WWII and was wounded in Germany. He married Fern A. Thomas on June 28, 1947 at the Church of Christ, Harrisville.
He was a Millwright at J and L Steel, Benson Mines and then later a Pipefitter for the Newton Falls Paper Mill, retiring in 1988.
He is survived by his wife Fern; sons, Duane Manchester, Harrisville, David Manchester and his wife Kathleen, Harrisville; and a daughter Sandra Tretiak and her husband, Joseph, Cherryville, PA. Loren is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah Nikisher.
Loren has one surviving sister; Alice Morgan, Utah. 8 brothers and a sister predeceased him.
There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 1 p.m. at the Christian Church in Harrisville, New York. Burial will be held privately by the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage NY 13619.
