Natural Bridge - Kurt Berlin, 57, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, while at home after a year-long battle with ALS.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., located at 500 State Street, Carthage, NY 13619. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Arnold officiating.

Kurt was born on August 19, 1968, in Oswego, to the late Tom and Jean (Chetney) Berlin. He graduated from high school in Oswego and went on to graduate from Mohawk Valley Community College in 1989 with a degree in HVAC. He worked for a variety of places in Upstate New York as an HVAC Technician, and eventually retired from the Jefferson County Department of Social Services in 2015.

Kurt married Shari Gerber in Watertown on March 3, 2020.

Kurt was well known for his love of motorcycles, music, bird-watching, and making and selling his knives. Most of all, Kurt loved spending time with his family and friends, always doing what he could to make them smile.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shari; his children, Alison (Louis) Kendall, of Adams; Marisa (Adam) Yatos, of Adams; Elaina Berlin and her Fiance, Ryan Gernett; his step-children, Jade (Travis) Intorcia of Natural Bridge, and Jordan (Desiree) Morgan of Natural Bridge; his grandchildren, Owen, Francine, Charlotte, Briggs, Lenora, Abigail, Camille, Peyton, Adelyn, Grayson, Knox, Taylor, and Damon; sisters-in-law, Cassandra (William) Childers of Natural Bridge, and Becky (Allen) Beeks of The Dalles, Oregon; a brother-in-law, Larry (Sheila) Gerber, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; a brother, Paul (Theresa) Berlin of Oswego; and a special friend, John Rizzo.

He is predeceased by his parents, Tom and Jean; and a sister, Liza Berlin.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kurt’s memory may be made to the Natural Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, located at 27570 High St, Natural Bridge, NY 13665.
