CARTHAGE Kimberlee (Kim) McIlroy, 56, of 122 North School Street Rd., passed away early Wednesday morning, January 30, 2019 at the Hospice of Jefferson County Residence.
Kimberlee was born on November 4, 1962 in Carthage, New York, the first born child to G. Wayne and the late Sharon Ann (Shortt) McIlroy.
She displayed an impeccable work ethic and was employed throughout her life in various positions including machine operator/team leader at Fort James Corporation, a bus driver and teachers aide with the Carthage Central School District and a receptionist with Kelly Services. She also worked as an office manager with DGM Coon & Company, in addition to being a front desk customer service representative with Allens Budget Motel.
Kim took considerable pride in her natural skill abilities and accomplishments in the nine years she worked as a dispatcher and Resident Services Coordinator for Winn Residential Corporation. Her responsibilities there required her to coordinate housing/leasing arrangements for military families at Fort Drum.
Kim sustained a strong faith in God and practiced that faith regularly as a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Carthage.
She was a free-spirited, strong-willed, kind and compassionate woman with a flare for humor, which she was able to retain throughout her illness.
Kim is survived by two sons for whom she loved fiercely, Michael (Ashley) Rivers of Copenhagen and Cody Brotherton of Carthage. Other survivors include three absolutely adorable and cherished grandchildren, Michael, Lirael and Maverick Rivers; her father, G. Wayne McIlroy of Carthage; a sister, Lauri (Keith) Wiggins of Chuckey, Tennessee; a brother, David (Dawn) McIlroy of Syracuse; two nieces, Kaleigh Tehonica of Cape Carol, FL and Jesse Tehonica of Liverpool; three nephews, Matt (Erica) Tehonica of Indian Trail, NC; Hunter and Parker McIlroy of Syracuse; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by her mother, Sharon Ann Shortt-McIlroy, who passes away on November 12, 2015.
Kims smile, humor and spirit will forever live in us. Her last wishes were, in lieu of flowers, that family and friends please consider a donation to one of the following places: Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601; Ryans Wish, PO Box 326, Gouverneur NY 13642; or St. Judes at www.stjudes.org.
