CHAMPION — Kim J. Schermerhorn, 57, of North Lake Road, Carthage, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, February 11, 2026, at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville, NY.

Kim was born in Carthage on April 19, 1968, the son of the late Richard J. and Joan M. (Shatraw) Schermerhorn. He graduated from Carthage Central School in 1988, where he majored in Agriculture and became an FFA Chapter Farmer.

A man of many trades, Kim enjoyed staying busy. He spent many hours working in woodlots, performing small engine repairs, and undertaking various farm tasks. He also helped build his parents' home.

He was a former member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in West Carthage. Kim enjoyed riding four-wheelers and snowmobiles, playing in the mud, and deer hunting, but he especially cherished time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his brother, Kevin (Melissa) Schermerhorn of Glenfield; his uncle, Leonard Schermerhorn; a nephew, Nevan Schermerhorn and a niece, Sarah Ann Schermerhorn and his aunt, Betsy Forney, both of Carthage, and several cousins. His parents and his wife predeceased him.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Champion.
