Jack A. Pridell

Jack Alva Pridell, 86, formerly of Carthage, NY, passed away peacefully on November 24th at his home in Surprise, AZ, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on December 8th, 1938, in Carthage, he was the beloved son of George and Myra and a devoted husband to Kay for almost 62 years. A proud father to Kirk, Steven, Michelle, and Tim, he was known for his dedication to his family and incredible work ethic.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am in the Lundy Funeral Home chapel, followed by burial in the Hillside Cemetery in West Carthage. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow the burial services at Zero Dock Street Restaurant in Carthage. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to either the Dementia Society of America or Alzheimer’s Association.

Jack embarked on his incredible 34-year career with United Parcel Service (UPS) in 1960. Beginning as a driver, he advanced to supervision in 1961 and retired in 1994 as the Upstate New York Operations Manager. Jack’s hard work and dedication to UPS earned him the nickname “The Legend”, setting the bar for future generations to come.

Retirement was an adventure. Jack enjoyed traveling the country in his RV with his wife Kay, eventually spending their winter months snow-birding in Surprise, AZ. Summers were always spent at their home in Clayton, NY, where he spent many hours boating on the St Lawrence River and enjoying the Thousand Islands. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren firmly believe that he was the best tour guide on the river. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

He is survived by his son Kirk Pridell (Michelle) of Papillion, Nebraska; son Steven Pridell of Tupper Lake, New York; daughter Michelle Sojdak (Anthony) of Berlin, New Jersey, and son Timothy Pridell (Kristi) of Queen Creek, Arizona; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his special Arizona family; Anita, Claudia, Dawn, Dianne, and Liliana from Home Instead; Adam from Banner Health, Nurse Allison, and Wendy from Hospice of the Valley.

He is predeceased by his wife, Kay Pridell; his son, Jon Pridell; his parents, Myra (Bossout) and George Pridell; his sisters, Alice and Virginia; and brothers Francis, Chuck and Clint.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Lundy Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. at 500 State Street, Carthage, NY, 13619. Online condolences in his memory can be made at www.lundyfuneralhome.com
