NATURAL BRIDGE - Gilbert J. Baker, 85, 43835 Rte 41, died Sunday, September 18, 2016.
Born at home in the Town of Diana on August 18, 1931, the son of Sylvenus & Lillian Sadler Baker. He attended local schools. He married Myrtle Patchin on May 11, 1957 at the Harrisville Methodist Church; Mrs. Baker died in 2005. He served in the United States Army from 1959 -61, where he was stationed in Germany. He worked for Williamson's Mink Farm in Natural Bridge, then for Viking Steel in Harrisville until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising pheasants.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Floyd, Archie, Josephine, Clinton, Howard, Stanley, Clarence, Donald, Theda, Harvey, Russell and Eleanor.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM, with the Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy, officiating. Burial with military honors will be on Thursday, at Sand Hill Cemetery, Natural Bridge.
