Antwerp - Francis "Frank" W. Pierce, 91, passed away on Friday August 11, 2017, at the Lewis County General Hospital Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the last 6 years, before that he lived in Antwerp, New York.
He is survived by his loving companion of 36 years Joanne LaRue, along with several nieces and nephews.
Frank was born on July 2, 1926 in the Town of Wilna, NY, a son of the late George and Geraldine (Holmes) Pierce. He graduated from Carthage Central School. He served in the U.S. Army as pilot during WWII. Frank worked as a Forrest Ranger in Alaska, and then made his way back to Upstate New York to work for the United States Government at Fort Drum as an Entomologist, where he retired.
He was a lifelong and avid outdoorsman and a volunteer fireman.
