A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 4:00 pm (please note change of time, from previous announcement) at the Natural Bridge Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 43735 State Rte. 3, Natural Bridge, NY 13665. A meal will be provided at the church following the ceremony. Please plan to join us! A private burial will be held by her family at Hillside Cemetery in Natural Bridge, where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband.

Eleanor was born on June 7, 1936, in Boonville, New York to the late Hubert and Norma (Joslin) Stephon. Her mother died when she was only 11, and this tragic turn of events would eventually shape her into the hardworking and perseverant woman she became. Eleanor did not allow these hardships to harden her heart, but in contrast spent a life filled with a legacy of sharing love with her husband, family, friends, church, and community.

She married the love of her life, Bradley Guy Farr, on June 30, 1954 and they lived side by side for 67 years before his passing in 2021. She not only gained a husband, but also a very close connection with her husband’s family, whom she lived and worked with for many years. Their three greatest joys were their daughters, Jill, Kelly and Dawn. As the years progressed, grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled their home and were showered with immense love. Eleanor could always be found in the kitchen, preparing meals for the family and always taking care to provide “favorite” dishes for her loved ones. She was happiest when she was together with family members, including her beloved siblings and their children. She leaves behind no question of her dedication and love to her family and close friends.

Eleanor was no stranger to hard work. She began work at the phone company in Boonville before marrying and moving to Natural Bridge. She also worked for the Post Office for many years. The majority of her work efforts, however, were spent alongside her husband, Bradley. Together, they owned and operated many businesses in the North Country, including Lake Bonaparte Development, The Texaco Gas Station, Brad’s Distributors-Skiroule Snowmobiles, and the Natural Bridge KOA Kampground, to name a few. In addition, she and Brad teamed up with their daughter Kelly, and son-in-law, Jeff to open Treats & ‘Tique’s and the Bear Claw Café.

When not working, which was rare, Eleanor enjoyed fishing with Brad and family or just sitting on the porch of the camp she and Brad built with the help of family and friends. Her family can assure you that she always wore her lifejacket while on the boat, and spent a great deal of time encouraging everyone else to do so! She also enjoyed traveling to see family that lived far away or attending games and events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which she continued to do until within a month of her death.

Always dedicated to her faith, Eleanor, alongside some dear friends, was one of the founding members of the Natural Bridge Seventh Day Adventist Church. She dedicated years of service to her Lord through supporting church events in the community, again, always making sure everyone was fed. While preparing for the yearly community Thanksgiving meals, she could be found tearing apart bread days in advance to make dressing, cooking turkeys, making gravy, and chopping cabbage for her famous cabbage salad! To be fed by Eleanor was to be loved by Eleanor.

Eleanor is survived by her three daughters, Jill Farr, Kelly (Jeff) Lawton, and Dawn (Tony) Iozzo; her precious grandchildren, Heidi (Aaron) Elliman, Nikki (Richard) Privat, Robert (Lori) Ball, Michaela (Collin) and Kelsey Lawton, Isabella and Elaina Iozzo; her beautiful great-grandchildren, Adalida (Brandon), Evelyn, Lila, Bradley, Jillian, Eleanor, Isaiah, Lucas and Ryland; and many nieces and nephews who were as precious to her as her own children.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Bradley; her parents, Hubert and Norma; and her siblings, Dudley, Beverly, and Larry.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff on the 6th floor at Crouse Irving Hospital for the outstanding care and comfort provided to Eleanor and her family during her time there.

In lieu of flowers, and to honor the legacy of Eleanor, please consider bringing non-perishable food items or a monetary donation to the community assistance food program at her church. The Food Pantry at the Natural Bridge Seventh Day Adventist church serves families in the area in need of nutritious meals. Donations can be mailed to NBSDA Church, Attn: Food Pantry, PO Box 105, Natural Bridge, NY 13665.
