Dianne Rose Fraser, age 83, passed away peacefully after a prolonged battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the House of the Good Samaritan with her husband by her side.
She was born in Pitcairn, NY, on August 15, 1943, to Alvah and Lucille (Miller) Koster. She and her siblings learned early on what hard work was, living on a dairy farm tending cows and horses and working in the hayfields. That grit and determination created a work ethic that few, if any, could match, staying with her for life. She attended and graduated from Harrisville Central School. From there, she fell in love with Donald G. Fraser, and they were married on July 15, 1962. From the suburbs of Baltimore to the Oregon wilderness, she and their two children, along with Fluffy, their faithful dog, followed her husband all over this country. Wherever the mining took them, whether it was a house, apartment, trailer, or camper, she quickly made it into a home for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald G. (Punk) Fraser, Harrisville; a daughter, Lisa Hill, Harrisville; and sons, James (Amber) Fraser of St. Maries, Idaho; her beloved grandchildren, Eric (Lee Ann) Hill, Oakboro, NC; Sean (Erica) Hill, Marion, NY; and Shelby McDonald, Sonora, CA; great-grandchildren include Casey, Hunter, and Russell Hill, and Brooke and Wyatt McDonald. A sister, Beverly (Dennis) Miksa, Belleview, Florida.
She is predeceased by her parents, a sister, Katherine Thomas, and a brother, Donald Koster.
Dianne was a master seamstress, cook, gardener, and jack of every trade! She loved fast cars and loved driving her '67 Mustang even more. She loved camping, whether it be in the wilderness or in the many national parks across America. They even panned for Gold in the California mountains while living there. She was famous for being a hostess-her parties were legendary. Almost every birthday, anniversary, holiday, or Super Bowl, "the Den" would be packed with family & friends at times, standing room only! Her "50 lb" bowl of scalloped potatoes, zucchini bread, chowder, venison roasts, and last but not least-her peanut butter fudge were fit for kings. She could whip up blenders of the most perfect margaritas and Tom & Jerry's to satisfy a thirsty crowd.
Her favorite places were many-from Crater Lake, Yosemite Valley, the Sequoias, through the Colorado Rockies- but the place that held her heart was Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, where many days of happiness were spent at the Fraser cabin.
There will be no services per her request; just look for her in the rainbows above! A family get-together for a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in her name to the Harrisville Food Pantry.
