Debra Weeks Bleakley, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Copenhagen, NY on November 13, 2024, after a brief illness.

Debra was born in Kearny, NJ to Thomas and Virginia Weeks and is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Commander James Bernard Bleakley, USN (ret) of Harrison, NJ, and her pride and joy children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children James (Stephanie), of Sierra Vista, AZ, Meghan Dowell (Jeremey) of Michigan City, IN, Laura Ferrell (Ryan) of Hampton, VA and BethAnne Bleakley of Lowville, NY who were her great pride, and her eight grandchildren Ava, Ryan, Emma (Garrett), Riley, Phillip, Gage, Grant and Robert that were her total joys as she enjoyed their frequent visits and holiday and summer stays.

Debra was predeceased by a brother Albert Weeks of Dumont, NJ, and her parents and is survived by dear friend Jenniffer Bleakley of Lowville, NY.

Debra was a lifelong member and supporter of various animal rescue organizations and was an avid reader and collector of classic books. She also enjoyed travel and resided in Naples, Italy for a few years while touring Europe.

A private service will be held in NY and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The extended Bleakley family would like to express their profound and sincere thanks to the amazing professionals at the Lewis County Home Health and Hospice for their support throughout this difficult time.
