Deborah L. Reape

West Carthage- Deborah L. Reape, 73, of Champion Street, West Carthage, passed away peacefully at her sister's home on Friday, June 20, 2025. She was under the care of her family and Hospice of Lewis County.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at the Lundy Funeral Home, located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY 13619. A burial will be held privately by her family.

Deborah was born on December 6, 1951, in Carthage, NY, to the late Ernest N. and Edna (Bartell) Schermerhorn. She attended Carthage Central School and later worked as a bartender at Wally’s in West Carthage, Campany’s Tavern in Carthage, and the Crossroads in Naumburg.

She is survived by her sons, Patrick Burke, Carthage; Mike Burke, North Carolina, and Marshall Burke, NC; along with her siblings, Betsy Forney, Croghan; and Leonard Schermerhorn, Carthage. Along with her grandchildren, Derek & Patrick Burke.

She was a very active person who loved the outdoors, especially hunting. She also enjoyed various hobbies like puzzles, arts and crafts, and painting. Deborah cherished her pets deeply, including her dogs, Mocha and Mila, and her cat, Star.

She is predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Edna; her brothers, Ernest Schermerhorn Jr., Richard Schermerhorn; and her sisters, Nancy Emerson, Lenora Schermerhorn, and Ruth Hoose.
