David C. Cring

January 17, 1949 — April 23, 2019

HARRISVILLE David C. Cring, 70, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility where he had been a resident for several years.
David was born on January 17, 1949 in Lowville, New York, son of the late Roswell A. and Doris H. (Parker) Cring. He graduated from Harrisville Central School and was the Village of Harrisville Police Chief for a time. He went on to work in maintenance at the St. Regis Paper Mill for 25 years, until its closing.
On July 16, 1971 he married Susan Fowler at the Harrisville Methodist Church.
David joined the Harrisville Fire Department when he was a senior in high school and remained a member throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Diana Hunting Club. He was also an eagle scout and a member of the National Ski Patrol.
He was an animal lover and cherished his beloved dog, Buddy.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; three children, Philip (Lisa) Cring of Nebraska; James Cring of Nebraska; and Rebecca Cring and Wayne Walrath of Harrisville; as well as three grandchildren, Danielle, Ellizabeth and David, all of Harrisville.
He is predeceased by his parents, Roswell & Doris Cring as well as a sister, Debra Cring.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM in Harrisville Cemetery.
