Cyrena C. Gerber

Natural Bridge - Cyrena C. Gerber, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, while at Samaritan Summit Village.

A Calling Hour will be held on August 31, 2025, from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., located at 500 State Street in Carthage, NY 13619. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of the Funeral Home, with the Reverand Wayne Arnold, officiating. A graveside service will be held privately in the Hillside Cemetery in Natural Bridge.

Cyrena was born on January 9, 1943, to the late Marshall and Hazel (McCarthy) Lunderman. She graduated from Carthage Central School in the class of 1960. After school, she worked as a babysitter for many years. She also worked for Natural Bridge Elementary, the Natural Bridge Post Office, and eventually retired as the office manager for St. James Catholic Church.

She married Lawrence Gerber on June 30, 1962, at the St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. They spent 41 happy years together before his passing in December of 2003.

Cyrena found joy in traveling, going on trips to the casino, playing bingo or her scratch-off tickets, quilting, and spending time with her family. She loved hosting parties at her home.

Her children survive her: Shari (Kurt Berlin) Gerber of Natural Bridge, Cassandra (William) Childers of Natural Bridge, Lawrence (Shelia) Gerber of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Rebecca (Allen) Beeks of The Dalles, OR; ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Gilbert Gerber and Gerald Borland, and her sisters-in-law, Velma Lunderman and Irene Lunderman.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Lawrence; her siblings, Jim Lunderman, Necia McCoy, Clarence “Dusty” Lunderman, Lucille McCue, Keitha Youngs, Norma Borland, Berton Lunderman, and Anna Rounds.
