Carthage - Chantelle Renee Evans, 32, passed away on February 28, 2026, in New York City.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., located at 500 State Street, Carthage, NY 13619. A funeral service will immediately follow the calling hours at 1:00 pm in the Lundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Arnold officiating.
She was born on April 25, 1993, in Lowville, New York, to Suzanne Evans and Roland Evans Jr.
From the moment Chantelle entered this world, she was a bright light. A happy, free spirit with a heart full of love, she was a blessing to so many. Her laughter was unforgettable — infectious, loud, and full of joy. It was the kind of laugh that filled a room and lifted spirits instantly.
Chantelle attended Carthage Central School in Carthage, NY. She had a creative spirit and loved cutting hair, always finding joy in helping others feel good about themselves. Music was also a big part of her life. As a little girl, she loved bugs and exploring the outdoors, and her favorite color was purple — a color as bold and vibrant as she was.
She was hilarious and quick-witted, able to make a joke out of almost anything. Chantelle always had a comeback ready and could turn even the most ordinary moment into something memorable. She was intelligent, talented, and deeply loving — a woman whose personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Like many, Chantelle faced personal struggles throughout her life, including challenges with addiction. She fought battles that were not always visible to others, and through it all, she remained deeply loved. Her family hopes her story serves as a reminder to lead with compassion, understanding, and support for those who may be silently struggling.
Chantelle was predeceased by her grandparents, Francis Mallette and Sandra Mallette.
She is survived by her mother, Suzanne Evans of Watertown, NY; her father, Roland Evans Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska; and her stepfather, Jesse Lindsay of Tennessee. She is also survived by her grandparents, Patricia and Roland Evans Sr. of Sumter, South Carolina; her brother, Andrew Mallette, and sister-in-law Bethany Mallette of Evans Mills, NY; her brother, Marcel Evans of Mohawk Valley Correctional Facility in Rome, NY; her sisters, Kenya Lindsay of Watertown, NY, and Brooklyn Evans of Fairbanks, Alaska. Chantelle also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will miss her dearly.
Though her time here was far too short, Chantelle’s love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy is one of joy, humor, resilience, and deep love.
Her family asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
