Bruce Beattie

December 5, 1949 — June 13, 2025

Watertown, New York

Bruce A. Beattie passed away on Friday, June 13 2025 with his wife, Grace, at his side and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

Bruce was born on December 5, 1949 to parents Rodger and Margaret Beattie. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1968 and then SUNY Oswego. He briefly taught Biology at Watertown High School before embarking on his career with Phillips Petroleum (later Conoco Phillips) in 1977. It was with this company that he found his niche as the manager of Stony Island off Henderson Harbor, NY. It was if the job was made for him and he certainly left his mark there. He served in this position until his retirement in 2002.

Bruce married Grace M. Pierce of Harrisville, NY in 1977 and together they had one daughter, Kate.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Grace, of Watertown; his daughter, Kate, and son-in law, Tom Hooper, of Oswego; and his sister, Evelyn (Michael) Kormanik, of Staten Island. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Carl (Karen) Pierce, of Harrisville, and Allan (Pamela) Pierce, of Wiggins, Mississippi, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as several cousins. Beyond his immediate family, Bruce leaves behind a close circle of friends whom he considered family. With these friends, he shared some of his most treasured times golfing, fishing, and hunting at his camp in Theresa, NY. While he certainly enjoyed these hobbies, if asked, he would probably say his favorite time was the time he spent at home with “his girls.” All who knew Bruce will deeply miss his humor, love, and strength. He was truly one in a million.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce’s memory can be made to Hospice of Jefferson County.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Lundy Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc. at 500 State Street, Carthage, NY, 13619. Online condolences in his memory can be made to www.lundyfuneralhome.com
