Barbara Ann (Cannan) Lawlee, 89, of Radcliff, KY, and formerly of Copenhagen/Carthage, NY, passed away on August 11, 2025, after a battle with cancer.
Barbara was born to Maynard A. Cannan and Thelma M. Miller on April 28, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA. She was raised in Lowville, NY by her paternal grandparents and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1954 and The Utica School of Beauty Culture in 1955. She briefly worked for Elite Salons of Utica, NY, before operating and owning her hair salon in her home in Copenhagen, NY, for 29 years until her retirement in 1986.
She married the love of her life, Lawrence F. Lawlee, on October 19, 1957, at St. Peter's Church in Lowville, NY.
She enjoyed playing bingo, attending yard sales, shopping at thrift stores, and spending time with her family, especially with her great-great-granddaughter Nova Leigh. She was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. During her years in Copenhagen, NY, she could be found at the Town Talk Restaurant catching up on all the latest news from around town. She was a former member of the Copenhagen Fireman's Auxiliary and the St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry (2008), her son Mark Francis Lawlee (1992), and 3 brothers: Charles (Pat) Cannan, Willard (Jimmy) Cannan, and William (Billy) Cannan.
She is survived by a daughter Alanna Grace (Shannon) Ryan of Bradenton, FL, a son Timothy John (Melissa) Lawlee of Radcliff, KY, sisters Ellen Kolek of Williamsville, NY, Nancy Kaszubcki of North Tonawanda, NY and Bonnie Stauffer of Getzville, NY, granddaughter Mandi Lynn Lawlee, grandson Michael Patrick (Sheronda) Lawlee, great grandchildren Tyler Patrick Lawlee, Kylie Ava Lawlee, and River Fox Lawlee, and a great, great-granddaughter Nova Leigh Lawlee all of Radcliff, KY and many friends and family members.
